Compression Therapy
Peninsula Vascular Center is a private practice center specializing exclusively in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with vascular disease. We serve the mid-Peninsula, including Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Atherton, Santa Clara and San Mateo County, California.
Although compression hose do not directly treat the causes of vein disease, they provide relief from its symptoms by reinforcing vein walls and decreasing the amount of blood pooling in leg veins, thereby helping overall circulation. These medical grade hose have maximum compression at the ankle that gradually decreases up the length of the leg. They come in different strengths and sizes for men and women.
Compression therapy is also an essential part of post-procedure care, increasing the long-term effectiveness of all leg vein treatments while slowing disease progression. Many patients come to us with a negative impression of compression therapy based upon previous experience wearing the wrong model of hose or based upon second hand misinformation. We want to assure you that properly fitted medical grade compression hose are almost always well tolerated and uniformly perceived as beneficial by our patients.
